I went to install Ehcp on another server, and when I went to access it, it didn't work. I tried to access the server local, and I get the screen that comes up if you can't access a site. Before, this problem wasn't so bad, but I don't know whats going on honestly. So to sum it up, after Ehcp download, I can't access the server with the local Ip.

I got this error when installing
Syntax error on line 19 of /var/www/vhosts/ehcp/apache.conf
Invalid command 'php_admin_value' perhaps mispelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

Please bear with me - this is all pretty new to me !!!
I am running Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop and manually added Apache, MySQL and PHP. To check they were all happy I installed and launched PHPMyAdmin - And all seems well.

The reason for going the desktop route, then adding was and is, that I use a wireless connection and Ubuntu Server was expecting an ethernet connection.

The installation of ehcp seems to have gone pretty painlessly, but I may have messed up the mail bit.
As I am learning about ehcp, and others, I am just using localhost and not an external IP address, although ehcp can see my IP address correctly & I left it at that.
I selected local mail only when trying to set up mailman, the daemon is running and I added the lines as per the installation instructions using newlist mailman

The log-on screen comes up ok - But it will not take any of the combination off root / admin / ehcp with any of their possible permutations.

I have tried the Lost Pass option, and whilst the email address I set up is valid (phillw@uk.vpolink.com) No mail arrives, I am surmising that is because I have set it up as local only.

I do have internet access, do I need to alter something in the mail configuration for it to send e-mails.

Also, what would be the default login / password combination for a new install of ehcp.

I am pretty sure it is yet another "He did WHAT???!" moment for you guys, and I promise to try and not break it again !!!

Hello, I am having a slight problem with EHCP.

Guest: I entered all of the correct information to set it up such as the external internet protocol address, mysql password, etc. The only problem I am having is viewing it from my external ip. I can view from localhost or from my router assigned ip, but I cannot view it from my external ip?
Also, what is weird is that this is a fresh ubuntu installation.
I have tried reinstalling ubuntu several times and reinstall ehcp. I think it might be my router. Even though i forwarded my ports, i think there are some other settings i might have to change.

Did you set up NAT on your modem/router ?
if you didn't, then you should do it.

In order outside world to see your server, you need to setup NAT on router, if you are behind a router. (This is not true when your server has a direct connected real ip)

well i was trying different panels to compare them, so I installed webmin, and after playing with it, I installed ehcp, then when i restarted i realize that i didnt have internet. The problem wasnt webmin, becaues i was using internet after webmin and befo ehcp. It seems like i am behind a proxy. I dont know if there is a conflict between webmin and ehcp, or the problem is ehcp. Anyway, webmin says now that i have an extra ip, that i dont know. Like inside of proxy, or router. So if sombody can tell me what to do, or may me just uninstalling ehcp is enough. That is sad actually, becaues ehcp seems very nice, but I need internet rightaway

When I use the backup utility to backup Mysql db's the Mysql.sql comes up empty. I have upgraded to the latest version and everything seems to work fine except for the Mysql backup. There wasn't any db's in the EHCP (just in phpmyadmin) so I ran som insert's into mysqlusers and mysqldb tables. Then everything listed fine in the EHPC, but still no Mysqldumps in my backup. So anybody knows what's wrong?

Question:

Hi,
I've just installed ehcp on Ubuntu 9.04.
However, when I log in, I'm not directed straight to the control panel, but I can access the panel by clicking on [Apply For ftp/domain/panel accounts] below the login .

When inside, I can only use the tools panel. However when I click on any items on the main menu or System panel, I'm redirected back to the login menu.

I'm not sure what mistakes I made while installing the system.

Wahy you don't login there ? by filling username and password ?
If you fill in admin and pass, you will be logged in and you will be able to use your ehcp ...

Hi, well first of all THANKS ehcp is way too good to be true!
Well, my problem is: I just had a linode vps (linode.com), then I installed ehcp and domains are working correctly and I had already configured google apps for one of them. Linode uses a DNS manager for each VPS so I think I have now 2 DNS to configure: Linode's and ehcp's.

I want to add the hpanel domain to one of the ehcp's hosted domains: http://hpanel.devxxxx.com/ (devxxxx.com is a domain under ehcp control) but I only get a 404. I added an A record to Linode's DNS configuration for devxxxx.com (each domain I add in ehcp I'm adding it to Linode's DNS Manager):
hpanel A 72.xx.yy.24

and I just add a subdomain in ehcp for that domain called hpanel.
But I still get a 404.
Do you have any ideas why?

Thank you for your good wishes.

First of all, in fact, you dont need to manage two dns's at the same time.
There are two ways, you either manage linode dns manager or ehcp dns manager.
1-You redirect all your domains to ehcp server ip (you set dns of your domains as pointed to your server ip), then manage dns in ehcp. In fact, as long as you don do something custom, special, in ehcp, you dont need to manually manage dns; ehcp automatically manage dns as you set up domains and subdomains.
2- Or, You manage dns only in linode dns manager; then you don't need to do anything special in ehcp.

Managing two dns's simultaneously is not a good idea and is a hard work.


Second, as i noticed, the A record that you add is some wrong.. maybe you misspelled here, while posting. Actually it should be:
hpanel IN A 72.xx.yy.24

After setting correct dns entry in linode dns manager,
add a subdomain in ehcp. Then, after 10 sec, your subdomain should be accessible there... if:
1- your ehcp daemon runs, (if not, you should get a warning in your ehcp gui), if everything went fine, you may look at logs with: "tail -f /var/log/ehcp.log" in console
2- you are at different network with your server. If you are in same internal network as your server, you need some more configuration; for linode.com i think, you are outside of linode network

try looking at logs,
then lets try to figure out together..

ehcp installed OK. I have a couple of domains that work OK from the outside world too. I'm stumped though on how to get a mysql database and tables initialised (it's a one-time thing). Ideally I would like do this with access from the outside world, but doing it at the keyboard of the server would work if I have to.

I'm actually working my way through the apps in "PHP and MYSQL for Dummies". Probably not the first time that has been done.

Do I have to write a PHP appto do this or is there another way?
