I wanted this Thread to stand out as it will help many if answered nicely.
I have looked everywhere but not found any good samples of EHCP DNS Settings.

In Short.....
OK I have installed a fresh version of Ubuntu 10.04, Ubuntu fully updated, zend fame-work and EHCP.
(Thats all i have installed, Very clean installation.)

I Have Several Domain Names Hosted at: www.1&1.co.uk which are forwarded to My Public Static IP Addresses. (I have not used my actual Details and substituted them with these below.)
(1&1 = www.1and1.co.uk) 100.100.100.1 / 2 / 3 / 4 are my Mockup Public Static IP Addresses.))

ie.

mydomain1.com points to: [my name server] ns1.mydomain1.com and ns2.mydomain1.com (Master)
mydomain2.com points to: [my name server] ns1.mydomain1.com and ns2.mydomain1.com
mydomain3.com points to: [my name server] ns1.mydomain1.com and ns2.mydomain1.com

etc. etc.

(I then created two subdomains as suggested by 1&1)
ns1.mydomain1.com points to: 100.100.100.1
ns2.mydomain1.com points to: 100.100.100.2

I then proceeded to my registrar (ISP) and requested Revers DNS of mydomain1.com (My Master Domain)
and this successfully was setup by my registrar.

I am pulling whatever hair i have left to setup the DNS Template in EHCP and can not find any sensible information regarding the setup.

Here are my questions:
in [Edit dns template for this domain] what to i change {dnsmail}, {dnsip}, {mailip} and {webip} to ?
If not then What would my essential DNS Setting be for Domain and Mail ?
Is this a Global template or unique to each domain ?
if so... Do i need to change every individual domain dns ?
Could someone please explain what each line does in EHCP Version of DNS or offer a full sample?

I have included two snapshots (The second is a Mockup) please could you correct any mistakes ?

On my main domain i have php_admin_value open_basedir none added on the Apache template and is working fine, but when i created a sub-domain, the php_admin_value open_basedir none is not working.

the problem is how do i apply php_admin_value open_basedir none to the sub-domain, because the sub-domain dose not have its own Apache template?

1) Ehcp Logs
2) Apache error logs
3) Access logs

The files are being generated too often and it become too big...

Answer:
1- ehcp logs:
open /etc/init.d/ehcp with an editor
replace line (in ehcp_start function):
nohup /etc/init.d/ehcp_daemon.py >> /var/log/ehcp.log 2>&1 &
with:
nohup /etc/init.d/ehcp_daemon.py >> /dev/null 2>&1 &
save,

then, restart ehcp with: /etc/init.d/ehcp restart


2- apache logs (access and error):
open apachetemplate file,

delete all lines with CustomLog statement.
save it.
ehcp->options->sync domains.
done.

I have setup a new Ubuntu server. I have re-installed EHCP, how do i migrate all my sites to the knew server. I have made a backup and transfered the file to the new server. The restore doesn't work.

My hosting company very elegantly changed my ip on me, how do I change the ip in ehcp? In the dns template for the nameservers it reads {dnsip} I changed all of those to the acutally numbered ip because when I changed the ip addresses in bind they would revert back unless typed the actual numbers in the dns template in ehcp. I'm on Ubuntu Server 10.04 with bind9. Thanks for any help!

HI ,
this article is how to configure ehcp and ssl certificate (verisign)
on ubuntu 9.04.
First you shuld configure ehcp >gui>options>fix apache configuration with ssl
2nd go with ssh to web server /etc/ssl/certc/and backup sever.crt to server.org.crt make new file server.crt and paste file that you got from verisign .
3rd go to /etc/ssl/private/and edit server.key
4th put intermediate.crt in /etc/ssl/certs/
5th edit /var/www/new/ehcp/etc/apache2_ssl ,add this:
SSLEngine On
SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/certs/server.crt
SSSCertificateKeyFile /etc/ssl/private/server.key
SSLCACertifikateFile /etc/ssl/certs/intermediate.crt
6th edit /var/www/new/ehcp/apachetemplate
<VirtualHost {webserverip}:80> <VirtualHost x.x.x.x:80>
<VirtualHost {webserverip}:443> <VirtualHost x.x.x.x:443>
7th /etc/init.d/apache2 stop
8th /etc/init.d/apache2 start
And thats it

I am currently trying to implement short URLs for a media wiki installation. I cant seem to get the alias correct. I made the edit to the alias template for the specific domain.

/wiki /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/index.php

however when I restart apache it does not seem to take. My ultimate objective is to shorten the existing url "http://domain.com/index.php/Main_Page" to just "domain.com" but I cannot even seem to get a simple alias directive to work. =(
I have read the short url pages @ mediawiki.org but cannot seem to figure this out.
Any help would be appreciated.

this mostly due to you overwrite some config files during upgrade.
Ideally, you should not overwrite config files, unless something very important exists inside new config files.

To fix situation, try these:

login to ehcp, options-> fix mail configuration.
this fixes many configuration files.(mail, ftp etc.)

check your /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file,
and add following lines if not exists:

Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp.conf
Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp_subdomains.conf
Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp_auth.conf
Include /var/www/new/ehcp/apachehcp_passivedomains.conf

after that, restart apache:
/etc/init.d/ehcp restart

if still problem, let me know whats not working.

1- Add Domain To my ftp user: (Most Easy), only asks for domainname, setups domain in default ftp user of paneluser; if no default ftp user, then, an ftp account is setup for first, once only; after seting up ftpusername, only domainname is enaugh on subsequent calls to this function.

2- Easy Add Domain : setups a diferent paneluser, domain, ftpuser, with all names set to domainname. only three inputs: domainname, pass, email

3- Normal Add Domain: paneluser, domainname, ftpuser, their passwords are all separate and setable. bw U/L D/L also setable. This is what we have most control over usernames, passwords.

4- Bulk Add Domain: Just like case 1, with ability to add many domains at single step. All domains are setup in default ftp of account (paneluser/admin). this is useful if admin needs to make online many domains quickly. "Under Construction" page is put in all domain's homes.

5- Add DNS only hosting: this just adds domain to dns/bind/named of server, redirecting domain to any ip given. No apache is configured, and no files are hosted.. This is so called "dns hosting"

Note some “similar operations” at bottom of each command

6-Easy Add Domain to different IP (in this server, not multiserver): This command is used to add a domain to another IP that exists in same server. (is seen at bottom when clicked on any of add domain command)

ehcp->add domain->bottom, other operations->easy add domain to different IP

To use this you need first to do:
login as admin,
ehcp->options->list/add servers/IP's -> add IP to this server -> enter IP to use in ehcp

if you want to use this feature (use different IP on same server) with other “add domain” commands such as “normal add”, “add to my ftp”, do this:
ehcp->options->list/add servers/IP's ->set Active webserver IP->enter an IP
this way, all “add domain” operations will use that IP.
To cancel it and return to default, go to same place, leave blank, save.

to use this, download new testing ehcp from echp.net/ehcp_yeni.tgz
you may replace only classapp.php and localutils.php if you already have ver 0.29.15
otherwise, upgrade your ehcp.
in both case: logout & login back, then, try to add domain with different IP.
