On the EHCP server, we have domain.com, we are ONLY performing web hosting, no mail.
Inside domain.com we have a file called email_form.php
This page sends an email to info@domain.com. The EHCP is set up to receive ANY mail that is sent to it. Meaning the web-site domain.com will also send its mail to the local host to be processed, if the local host CAN accept mail for domain.com, it will.

It is kinda hard to explain.

The mail generated from the web form is sent to the local mailer to be processed (sent out). If the local mailer, IS postfix, and postfix can accept mail for the domain sending the mail, then it will search for the email address located inside the virtual mailbox. IF the virtual mailbox (or email address) doesn't exist then postfix bounces it, back to the sender, and the sender IS the local domain name email address.

hosts domain.com host domain.com
(has postfix) (has postfix)

if the web server sends email to domain.com, then the web-server will accept the mail for domain.com.
A DNS request is never performed.

I hope this makes some sense.

I have a domain xxxx.com & xxxx.co.uk
when i add theese to ehcp through add domain
it adds fine i get the folders in /var/www/vhosts/xxx/xxx

But when i type xxxx.com or xxxx.co.uk all i get is ehcp default page and not the uder construction page
Before i had normall apache2 and worked in /var/www when i typed xxxx.com

I have a static ip

Just cant get it to work

Ftp works fine

if i put files in /var/www and get rid of index.html it works aswell

just a note:
1. editing apachehcp.conf manually is not good, it is overwritten by ehcp each time a domain action is done.
if you need some custom editing, such as ssl etc, do this way: choose that domain in ehcp, click "edit custom apache template"


2.
to add a second IP, do this way:
ehcp->options->list/add server IPs (below)->add IP to this server.
ehcp home->add domain-> below links, add domain to different IP-> select IP and enter domain info.
this way, your domain should be adjusted to work on that IP.

an answer to a question:

transfering should not be difficult,
install new ehcp to your new server
first, upgrade, then, take backup, then, move your backup or files to new server..
before backup, I will send you latest ehcp files which contains some fixes about backup. that may help.

about ssl: I am now in the process of preparing an easy way for doing ssl in ehcp. I am not sure when it will be ready...

your ips: if you have other ssl domains for your other ip, then, you need another ıp. but, if you have no ssl domains for your other ip's, then, those ips are enaugh for your ssl domain.
an IP can be used for both ssl and non ssl domains. however, single ip cannot be used for two different ssl domains..

so, if you have for ex, single ip: you can have many non ssl domains, and one ssl domain,
if you have 2 ip's: you can have many non ssl domains + 2 ssl domain.
and so on....

Hi All!

I'm using joomla for my ehcp installed webhost.
Each time when I install a new domain with joomla I have to manually chmod 775 for thousands of files and folders.

How can I set ehcp to chmod all sites automatically 775?

This is a small howto on ehcp backup and moving over servers.

Let me summarize:

normally; ehcp has built-in "server backup" feature. You can - most of the time - backup your whole server (including your site files, emails, db, ehcp) to a file.

The backup files are placed at /var/backup dir. You need to move these files to your new server, or make its backup to make sure you have "all data" in case you loose all server connection.

However, keep in mind that, sometime we may have bugs/unpredictable errors in this backup procedure. So, do Not lie on this backup feature. Check backukp file in /var/backup.

You may even do manual backup yourself. for manual backup, you need to backup /var/www/vhosts folder, /var/www/new/ehcp folder, mysql db's,

the ehcp backup feature may simplify, when it works as expected in your system.


For restore,
(transfer backup file to new server using scp or similar)
install ehcp on your new server, then,
click restore, enter backup filename.

the restore may last a while.

you may track all backup/restore process in command line by:
tail -f /var/log/ehcp.log
both in old & new server...

Does anybody have step by step instructions for implementing mod_cband

I would really like to try and get this working on my ehcp server to throttle website bandwidth and I'm not that clued up on linux and how to go about doing this.

Good day, how can I see website on my server if the domain in not yet bought and set my dns on it.
Can I use somehow my IP to see the domain ?
It's not a main domain but a client domain.
I just copy files to ftp and don't know how to see if the website is okey or not.
