I had to migrate my webiste to the new server.

EHCP installed nicely on Ubuntu 10.04, however after importing my database via phpmyadmin it DOES NOT show up within EHCP.

I tried creating a test DB inside EHCP and it worked.

My website works fine eventhought I can't see the DB within EHCP.

Any ideas?

Hi, first of all, to everybody that has contributed to make this script, i have to say that i'm really impresed.

Well i have installed echp in a VPS server.
I have 2 ips.
I also have added the records in my vpspanel like that :
woos.es. 600 NS ns1.woos.es.
woos.es. 600 NS ns2.woos.es.
ns1.woos.es. 600 A 91.XXX.212.XXX
ns2.woos.es. 600 A 91.XXX.211.XXX
And woos.es has its own servernames ns1.woos.es the first ns2.. etc...

Its almost done, but i don't really know alot about bind, and i'm very very new with echp.
In my echp panel, i also have configured the local ip, and the dns static ip as 91.XXX.212.XXX.

And i've followed few tutorials about configurind bind9 in debian lenny (my distro), but i can't get them to work.

I followed instruction of setting up step by step, but after finished installation, I could not use it, a warning as follows:
Warning : Your dns/server ip seems your local/private ip. in order your server be accessible from outside, you should set it to your outside/real ip (your modem/router's ip)

my server is Ubuntu 9.10 Server,
my website is running well on the server, the server is connected with Linksys router plus dynamicDNS service provided by easyDNS,
I tried put static IP in interfaces file, but doesn't work.
I have tried hundred times installation

Hi, first I'd like to say I really appreciate everything you have done developing ehcp. I made an attempt to setup a server some time ago and gave up because of a similar problem I'm facing now. I must say though, without ehcp I still wouldn't have a successful server, I have learned a great deal from this, so many thanks to you!

Here is my problem. I had my server working fine, except that I continued to have a problem resolving IP's locally. Mistakenly I began messing with the VirtualHosts, and now I cannot access any of the virtual servers. I've spent 2 days googling and reading and I'm almost sure I have all of my configurations correct, but still no luck.

I can access the index.php page of my IP, but not any sub-directories under it.

So, I can access http://{my_ip_address}, but I cannot access http://{my_ip_address}/vhosts/ehcp/ or any of my domains for that matter.

I did make a modification to the hosts file, but I changed it back, restarted everything and still have no luck.

If you could point me in the right direction for research, or even provide a suggestion I would be more than grateful!

This is the 3rd attempt of installing version 0.29.13, each time doing a new install of ubuntu 10.04 LTS with know extras like lamp or mail server just the standerd install.

the Mysql works but it seems not for the Ehcp, its runs the database which i added via the phpmyadmin (root longin), but dose not save new data added by users via any of my website's which use the database, also i get this same notic on the server status after each install that i did (Look at attached file).

Is their something worng with the mysql version that gets installed with Ehcp? I never had this problem with version 0.29.12.

Normally, "the things that occurs on your server, such as apache shut, ftp shut, ehcp gui unaccessible" does not occurs in normal operation, and there is no reason for this to happen; if your server is used in a normal way, just easy and normal way.

your apache may become unavailable in these situations: (these are possibilities)
* if you (or one of your users) use a wrong custom http in your server, ehcp, in that case, apache fails to start, you need to manually fix this situation,
* if you changed apachetemplate file with wrong apache config,
* somebody tried to setup a domain with strace characters or something like "my domain ...com" , unfortunately, currently ehcp does not check for such wrong domains.
* any other unknown reason,

for ftp stop:
* you may have changed mysql ehcp user password, in that case, ftp daemon will be unable to connect to mysql, hence, you will not be able to connect to ftp.
* if you changed directory ownerships of /var/www/vhosts to something other than vsftpd, ftp related directories should have ownership of vsftpd. (this normally handled by ehcp daemon.)

for both case:
* make sure that ehcp daemon runs, and runs with enaugh privileges.
* sometime, apparmor/selinux causes problems with ehcp daemon, because ehcp daemon runs on background and does system operations, need root privileges.
* if you played too much with iptables, (for example blocked yourself or some daemons) or many configuration files, that may cause some problems.

Your server may be hacked/cracked if:
* your root/ssh/ftp pass is simple, your mysql db pass is simple/guessable, somebody may have login using ftp and may have deleted files, for this, check /var/log/xferlog
* if you disabled openbasedir restriction for some domains. in that case, an attacker may have got inside using that website.
* even with open_basedir enabled, some data inside a website may be affected, if you use buggy software (php etc, cms,) inside that website.
* maybe some other things.

For a normal server, a normal hosting operation, nothing special needed, just:
* install a fresh ubuntu,
* directly install ehcp,
nothing other special thing needed, no other action needed for a proper, basic operation; and you dont need to read lots of tutorials, videos and so on, just run install.sh of ehcp..

if you try to do some fine tuning, security fine tuning, and some other things, you need to know what you do, and take all necessarry steps.
with clean ubuntu & ehcp, no known security hole exists as of now (ver 0.29.12 and up, now: 2010-03-19 Y-m-d)

Awww, you formatted your hard drive? :S ..... you should not format your hard drive in all problems.. try to solve your problems, do not give just give up and kill your hdd/data..
Anyway, I am sory that you lived such things..

I registered last year my domain and buyed some hosting from them. Now i made my own colocated server with ehcp.

I paid only for domain for next year. The problem is that they let me only point the domain to some nameservers but not let me to point that nameserver to my ip. I uploaded the dialog with those bastards.
They need to oblige me to buy hosting from them, but i dont need that now.



Is there a way to resolve the problem? Can I make those nameservers somehow?

most probably, you added a domain with your server ip,
i think,
i mean, you typed ip, instead of domainname
this caused the problem.
to fix it:

open /var/www/vhosts/ehcp/apachehcp.conf
delete section with that ip,
as domainname
i mean, servername ....ip... serveralias ip....
that section completely,
save file,
then restart apache
you will be able to access your panel

the problem arised: you used ssl in past, and edited apache template, with ssl
then, now, switched back to non-ssl, but custom templates were still ssl. which is problem.
fixed it.
i had to delete all your custom apache, if any.
