setup a test dummy domain

hi,

suppose you need to setup/test a domain without buying it actually.

to do that:

* setup that domain in ehcp.
* open in your local computer, hosts file (/etc/hosts in linux, c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in windows) ,
put following at end of that file:

youserverip www.testdomain.com
such as :
3.4.5.6 www.mygoogle.com


save hosts file,
close and open your browser.
you will be able to see that domain in your browser.

Example: i have 2 domains in ehcp panel on same IP.
mydomain1.com
mydomain2.com

mydomain1.com is online and working well.
mydomain2.com has custom http - permanent redirect to mydomain1.com

So is it possible to access mydomain2.com virtual directory in some other way, for example http://ehcp.server.ipaddress/~mydomain2.com to work on it for tests?
Or maybe possible to redirect only www, not full subdomain mydomain2.com?
In this way i can create custom dns test.mydomain2.com and work on it...

it is possible to access:
http://ipaddress/vhosts/ftpusername/domain.com/httpdocs/

note that, some scripts do record these paths in their database,
and , if you install script in this way,
that script may not work normally when you switch to http://www.domain.com

in that case, you need to manually modify those scripts files or db.
