Install failed
#1
Hi,
I have a fresh install of ubuntu 10.10 server edition with only SSH enabled.
ehcp downloads fine, but when I try to tar it fails

root@ubuntu:~# tar -zxvf ehcp_latest.tgz
tar (child): ehcp_latest.tgz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
root@ubuntu:~#

Any ideas?
Cheers
Paul

did your install finish ? the tar command seems not finding the file.

before tar,
try:
ls -l

what you see ?

if the file is ehcp_yeni.tgz, use tar with that.

Hello,
No the install didn't finish, it didn't even start!
I first did:- wget www.ehcp.net/download
then:- tar -zxvf ehcp_latest.tgz
which is when it fails.

ls -l returns:-
root@ubuntu:~# ls -l
total 7164
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7333345 2010-05-02 00:39 download
root@ubuntu:~#

cheers
Paul

appearantly, your filename is just "download" not ehcp_latest.tgz

now do like this:
mv download ehcp_latest.tgz
then,
install normally:
tar -zxvf ehcp_latest.tgz
cd ehcp
./install.sh

Yes that was it!
I realised when you got me to do the ls -l, that it would be the problem.

Thankyou.
Although I am a little confused to what went wrong, as I copy and pasted the instructions into putty.

Anyway at least I can login now!

Thanks again.

I am having further problems.
My website now works !!!

But, email doesn't seem to work, I have set up port forwarding and DMZ just to be sure, but still nothing.

Is there a way I can check the ports from this end?

This all came about due to some changes by my ISP (they changed my static IP), which is why I am suspicious of the ports.
The email just gets returned as undeliverable. In the .txt file that comes back with it it says - Remote-MTA: dns; mx1.dnspackage.com (203.xxx.xx.xx) Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 Unrouteable address

What does this mean?

check http://ehcp.net/?q=node/848
for general problems, also email related problems.
look at logs

to test ports:
http://ehcp.net/other/portstatus.php

make sure you redirect right ports to your server in your network environment.
