nameserver question
#1
Allright, so we're at the point where we've been able to change the nameservers with the registrar. Nameservers are now pointing to ns1.twigg-musique.com and ns2.twigg-musique.com, with the two unique IP addresses given by the hosting provider.

FTP/Mail are all humming along- however, port 80 isn't pointing to the appropriate folder in the vhosts path for the domain- pointing to /var/www. Checked lots of apache config files, all looks normal as per various posts here on the forum.

My question is- when the domain was setup in ehcp, the name used for the domain was twigg-musique.com, not just twigg-musique. Will this require, then, on the registrar site for the domain name that the name ns1.twigg-musique.com.com be used? Not sure about this, since it doesn't seem like the virtual host redirection is working at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated, commercial site here...

Ok, never mind- I've pinged the nameservers ns1.twigg-musique.com and ns2.twigg-musique.com and they both respond, so that doesn't seem to be at issue at all.

Now, when I ping ns2.twigg-musique.com, I get the same IP address as ns1.twigg-musique.com. I've verified in the registrar control panel- the ns2 nameserver is configured with a different IP address.

So, would this cause problems for ehcp? Still am not getting appropriate virtual host redirection at all on port 80- still pointing to the /var/www directory only.

I've restarted the ehcp daemon and re-synched dns and domains- no go.

for ns2,
ehcp gui->choose your domain->edit dns template
and change ns2 to be your second ip.

for other issues:
Normally, ehcp works with virtual hosts after installed on a clean ubuntu system.
if you changed apachetemplate file, for example, or some other configs (apache or ehcp apache templates) that may broke it. because in apache configs and ehcp's apache templates, you need to keep virtual host sections.

so, normally, to do ssl hosting do like this:
install ehcp on a clean ubuntu.
add/setup your domain in ehcp.
ehcp gui->options-> fix apache config with ssl (this makes necesary apache changes.)

if you need to change apache config for a specific domain, do not edit apache config files,
just ehcp gui->choose domain->Edit apache template for this domain
and make apache changes (such as /var/www ) here.

if you are stil confused, tell me exactly what you want to do, domain per domain, i will tell you.
