My server is on my home network behind a router, and I cannot see it unless I use a proxy. How can this be fixed?

I don't understand. Will a simple Sudo apt-get update fix it? is it in the console or ftp where i fix it?

no, not a sudo update command...
edit your hosts files,
as described above..
click on "no I dont understand."

I understand it more now, but i change to etc and I could not change to hosts. For example in my console i typed cd /etc/ and that works, but when i change to cd hosts, it can't find the directory
