I am as lost as can be with DNS.
I have been messing with it on and off for awhile now.
I just don't get it.
Here is where I am at so far.
First here is my info from my ISP provider.
IP address 70.61.73.170
gateway 70.61.73.169
subnet 255.255.255.252
DNS1 24.25.5.61
DNS2 24.25.5.61
I am using ubuntu 10.04 server
During the install I configured network manually and
and enter the above information upon request.
Then I went ahead and installed echp.
I also did a sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop <enter>
When I was done I was able to enter my ip address in
firefox and then I clicked on
Click here for the control panel on your server!
I entered my username and password and I made it in. I was able
to do this from any computer.
Now I have a domain and it is registered with hostmonster.com
the domain name is
ezhostin.com
I went to hostmonster.com logged in of course, then I clicked
on nameservers, and this is what they have.
Nameservers for a domain name are specialized servers that translate the domain name into an IP Address that is understood by computers on the internet. Each domain name registration includes a listing of nameservers that can answer for that domain name. Normally you should not need to change these from the default nameservers setup by HostMonster.Com. If you have special needs, you can use this page to edit the nameservers for your domain name.
Use Default Nameservers
ns1.hostmonster.com 74.220.195.131
ns2.hostmonster.com 69.89.16.8
Use Custom Nameservers
Please be sure a valid zone file exists on these name servers to ensure your domain resolves properly.
In here I entered is the first box
ns1.ezhostin.com
Then they ask for an ip so i put
ip:70.61.73.170
Then in the third box I enterd
ns2.ezhostin.com
And again they ask for and ip so i enterd
ip:70.61.73.170
Now I know this is wrong.
I go to a browser and type in on the address
bar
http://www.ezhostin.com
The browser cannot find the the domain ezhosin.com
So what do I have to do to get things correct.
Thanks again
jason
