Using Tomcat with EHCP
#1
Hey Guys,

I have decent amount of experience/competency of managing hosting server. I want to move to a new VPS server and install EHCP on it. I also want to run Tomcat on the server. A couple of questions from the EHCP/hosting experts.

Can I configure EHCP to allow me to use Tomcat?

If yes anything specific I need to do for this?

I am already setting up EHCP and will try installing Tomcat after that. In the meanwhile any tips are welcome.

Thanks,
Asif

ehcp does not install tomcat, normally, by default, so, you need to manually install it after ehcp install,

i think, you may install tomcat, and configure it as usual, by configuring apache, after ehcp install.

ehcp allows domains to have custom apache, so, you can define tomcat directives in ehcp apache configs. (coose domain in ehcp, click "custom apache/like this")

There is no other special setting in ehcp, to let tomcat work with ehcp.

Thanks a lot for the quick response. I will give it a shot and see how it goes. I don't know how to configure apache to use tomcat, but will try to work it out. Thanks again.

as first trier (i think) of ehcp, I mean, as a you are a beginner,
I want to state that,
ehcp DOES USES all system softwares, system commands and system configs.
nothing special.
so,
everthing that you normally do in an ubuntu system may be done, may be installed.

what ehcp does: coordinates all system functions/configs.

apache includes /var/www/vhosts/ehcp/apachehcp.conf file,
which is built by ehcp each time a new domain added/synced.

so, just keep in mind that,
do apache directives inside custom http in ehcp.

you may also do it as usual, in apache2.conf, but, making in custom http is a good idea, in ehcp.

for tomcat,
maybe,
I suggest using "edit apache template for this domain"
because it is whole apache config for that domain,

so, tomcat may require som more settings.

custom http is a part of apache template.is more simple.

btw, I dont know how to setup tomcat,
so, i dont know what to do with apache settings or "edit apache template"
mine was only a suggestion. maybe I may find something if I search a bit in internet.

Install ehcp and ensure all it ok. Then install Tomcat normally as you would using Terminal window. Finally open port 8080 on your router, test and you are done!
