Hi,
I have ubuntu 8, just installed fresh (3 attempts now)
I run the ehcp process, all is fine and dandy, but at the end it says, opening firefox to my CP area but firefox opens the url : http://localhost/vhosts/ehcp/
with the page error :
" The requested URL /vhosts/ehcp/ was not found on this server. "
If I try just http://localhost, there seems to be an active apache2 atleast as i get basic 'Under/Con' text on what seems a simple html page, so web server is active!
Can anyone help, again this is my 3rd attampt from a formated PC/Ubuntu then ehcp install method of doing this, maybe my steps are wrong, tho it does tell me to make cupa and sit back, best install i ever seen in linux yet for such a complex program&dependys!

may i ask, did you install ehcp on a clean ubuntu ? and,
did you install anything else before ehcp?
i write here only for an explanation for general, ehcp normally can work with any other ubuntu/debian program. Even you install ehcp on an existing system, it should work right away, provided that some server related software has not changed some default behaviour of server.
Thats why, if there is a problem, i suggest to install on a clean, new Ubuntu/Debian, and not to install any server related software before ehcp.
if you already did so and lived this problem:
i think your apache web root is something different.
it is normally /var/www
you may check that in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default or somthing like that.
the line
DocumentRoot /var/www/
should exist in that file, you get your error, in case this is different than /var/www
ehcp normally installs into /var/www/vhosts/ehcp
then, you should access it http://yourip/vhosts/ehcp (or http://localhost/vhosts/ehcp if you are on your server as local)
if you cannot, as in this case, most probably your apache web server root is different than /var/www
i may also help you by connecting to your server.
normally, if you even go to url http://localhost, you should see there an ehcp link, if you cannot find, them something is a bit wrong.. i mean, default document root of apache maybe different in this case
see you.

ok wiped again, stright to ehcp install, nps, CP login area -- tho i was sure i set myname as username for login, but it insisted in 'admin' - maybe dreaming here
i had 2 errors in notices area of CP, sorted one of them, but alittle confuzed with this one :
Warning : Your dns/server ip seems your local/private ip. in order your server be accessible from outside, you should set it to your outside/real ip (your modem/router's ip)
it makes sence, but is it a must, i have router saying port 80 goes to this box, also where would one change this setting just to play safe and state the net ip as it suggests

if you want to host some websites really, this is a must.
if you only want to play locally, it is not,
you may change that at options/settings page, there is a link on lef for this.
go there, then click "edit settings/options" then enter your ip as seen from outside..

expiriance on testing local server:
ubuntu server fresh install on old box = about 1h with latest online upgrades
EHCP instalation followed by great tutorial on howtoforge page = about 30 minutes
log on to system and start working = less then 2h
congratulations on excellent work and simplicity of installation and usage!!!
one future request if posible: swap squirel mail with http://roundcube.net/

You can install roundcube yourself; just follow the instructions on their site.
Roundcube keeps all the emails in MySQL (I don't know why) and this may create problems if you have a lot of mails.

with version 0.29.15, roundcube is integrated in ehcp.
if you haven't got it,
re-download 0.29.15 and upgrade your files from http://ehcp.securitywonks.net/ehcp_latest.tgz
