On an old version of EHCP I could go directly to a website URL without the domain being "live" by using ip/vhosts/www/user/website/ type of url path.
The new version of EHCP isn't letting me do this.
Can anybody help me do this?

try hosts file techniqe, you can do it with hosts file.

I figured out the issue. the latest version of EHCP changes the etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ file and it has a line that says www/vhosts/new.
the "new" term looked weird so I deleted it and now everything works.

deleting "new" definition is not good. because, it is also a security measure, use with caution.
