saslauthd error

Hi,
I have a little problem with saslauthd on Ubuntu8.04
On startup I see this message:
* Short name (NAME) undefined in /etc/default/saslauthd, using default

When I try to restart saslauthd I get:

root@mail:/home/bogdan# /etc/init.d/saslauthd restart
* Short name (NAME) undefined in /etc/default/saslauthd, using default
* Stopping default [ OK ]
* Starting default saslauthd[5059] :detach_tty : Cannot start saslauthd
saslauthd[5059] :detach_tty : Another instance of saslauthd is currently running [fail]

I can't send any email via Outlook or any email client:

It's a fresh install of EHCP on this machine with Ubuntu Server 8.04.
In Debian Ethc everything is working fine, I have no problem.

Any ideea?

PROBLEM SOLVED!

In /etc/default/saslauthd add:
NAME="saslauthd"

Restart saslauthd!
Now it works fine

did you solve your error:
warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: Permission denied

or anybody knows the cause for this error ?

i found that:

the directory /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd
has rights: drwx--x---
when i change it:
chmod a+x /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd

the login mechanism works fine...
But, when i restart saslauthd, that dirs changes back to drwx--x---

I didn't find a final solution but, it seems that, i will change that dir rights to drwx--x--x regularly...

if anyone has better idea, let me know...

in fact, the main problem arise from postix is not automatically configured to use courier-auth daemon... postfix mainly uses dovecot, but we dont user dovecot in ehcp... if anybody handles dovecot with virtual users against mysql table, we can change courier-auth to dovecot in ehcp...

i finally solved completely by:

adduser postfix sasl

this adds postfix to sasl group and that dir can be read...
