Warning - Internal/external IP?
#1
A warning shows up on my ehcp panel:

Warning : Your dns/server ip seems your local/private ip. in order your server be accessible from outside, you should set it to your outside/real ip (your modem/router's ip)

I have been given a static IP address by my ISP. Do I have to use this IP instead of the internal 192.168.2.101 that the server is attached to now? Will I have to then forward ports? Which ones - only 80 and 25 or others too? How do I do that?

Thank you.

in ehcp gui->options->dns ip: put your external real ip,
if you use server for destkop purposes too, then,
options->local ip: your internal ip of server,

in all cases, you need to forward ports,
the ports are told in http://www.ehcp.net/helper/yardim/cat.php?cid=6&qid=59

how you do port forward: this depends heavily on your modem/router, consult to its manual, documentation.

Thank you. But is this "dnsip" the static IP the ISP gave me or the static IP of the DNS the ISP has pointing to my static IP???

Because in some isntances you talk about putting in the dnsip dns server IP and in some instances you say (also the help section of ehcp says so) put in the static IP you were given. Which one is it?

I have put in the static IP I was given by my ISP and then checked if I have opened the relevant ports correctly and the ports in dyndns tester are all open as they should be (80, 25, 21, 22...). However when I go to 90.157.214.44 the connection is refused, ftp 90.157.214.44:21 doesn't connect either.

Your port scanning page also says that all the relevant ports are open and responding. I do not know what is wrong. I have setup a domain swega.com in ehcp with lots of space and bandwith, put the domain into everydns.net, so the domain is pointed to the 90.157.214.44 IP. Doesn't work.

1-in options, dnsip is your external real ip (that is given to you by your ISP). it is called dnsip because your server is at the same time dns server.
it is used as dns ip of your hosting system.
(you will give that ip to your hosting customers, so that they will enter that ip as dns ip for their domains)

2-if you are in same (internal) network as your server, then you cannot access your server through real ip. because router cannot route your requests back into the same network. So, test your server from outside of your home/office network. or you should test from another real ip. in same network, you can access by using your server's internal ip, such as 92.168.1.100 etc. (this warning is done in our helper/howto page, near ports section)

let me know if these solved your case.
